Facilities at The Soul Shack
Wheelchair Accessibility:
The property is wheelchair- and walker-friendly, but not completely wheelchair accessible.
There are several single steps that can be avoided within the main bedrooms, atrium, bathroom, kitchen, and lounge areas, making the majority of the house accessible. There is a portable ramp that will be in place if wheelchair or walker users visit the property, to allow access to all areas of the home.
Sleeping Arrangements:
The main farmhouse comprises of five air-conditioned bedrooms and can accommodate up to 18 guests.
Our standard setup is:
Bedroom 1 – 1 double bed, 3 single beds
Bedroom 2 – 1 double bed, 2 single beds
Bedroom 3 – 1 double bed, 4 single beds
Bedroom 4 – 4 single beds
Bedroom 5 – Combination of king and single beds, with an ensuite bathroom
Beds can be removed or rearranged to provide more space in the bedrooms (this regularly occurs for guests with reduced mobility, requirement for equipment, and/or who require 1:1 support).
Bathrooms:
There are two bathrooms in the main house, each with a shower and toilet, an ensuite bathroom with shower and toilet attached to Bedroom 5, and an additional bathroom in the staff accommodation area, which may be used in emergencies.
The largest bathroom in the main house is most suitable for people with reduced mobility and the need for equipment.
The shower recess is large with no door (suitable for people requiring support to shower). There is a handheld shower, sliding transfer seat (to prevent stepping over the 100mm hob), and circulation space to accommodate use of a wheelchair, walker, or wheeled commode.
Kitchen:
The kitchen is similar size to that in a large family home, and is equipped with plates, glasses, cutlery, etc. There are two large fridges, a large freezer, new gas stove and electric oven, and a range of small appliances like a microwave oven, toasters, kettles, sandwich presses, rice cookers, blenders, an electric fry pan, and a fancy-pants coffee machine.
Seating
Inside the home is a gorgeous wooden slab dining table that seats eight very comfortably. There is also a low table with cushions to seat up to 18 people, and a comfortable lounge seating area.
In the atrium, we have outdoor tables and seating for up to 24 people. We also have a number of folding camp chairs for additional seating.
On the side verandah is a wooden outdoor setting for 10.
In addition, we have 10 portable bench seats that each seat six people. These are perfect for around the campfire, movie nights, star gazing, or as seating for a ceremony.
Campfire:
There is a fire pit on the property. Guests wanting to use the fire pit must follow Soul Shack campfire safety rules.
Air-conditioning:
We have split-system air conditioners in each bedroom and in the kitchen/lounge area. The atrium is equipped with a number of fans.
Leisure activities:
Leisure equipment at the Soul Shack includes laser tag, lawn sports equipment, huge outdoor movie screen, karaoke, a pool table, an extensive costume collection, air hockey, ping pong, crafts and board games.
Animals:
The Soul Shack has well-loved, friendly animals on the property. They are kept in their paddocks when guests are visiting. Staff will provide guidance to support interactions, animal care, photo opportunities and connection with the animals. We have Wilbie the piglet, Rumbo, Harley, and Sooty our pack of snuggly, friendly dogs, Lily and Electra the miniature horses, Banjo the bullock, Marley the donkey, several cute and cuddly guinea pigs, a pair of cockatiels, and a number of chickens and ducks. There's also a large herd of cows in the adjoining paddock.
Internet
Unlimited WiFi is available for guests. Netflix, Disney Plus and Stan are available.
Car Parking
As The Soul Shack is a rural property, there is an abundance of parking. There are two train lines (cane train and main railway line) at the entrance to the property. PLEASE ensure you stop and look for trains when entering and leaving!
